The Wittenberg Tigers proved again that they are turning the corner with a fourth-place finish against a strong 17-team field.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Returning to tournament play featuring primarily NCAA Division III competition, the Wittenberg Tigers proved again that they are turning the corner with a fourth-place finish against a strong 17-team field.
The Tigers posted a 371 during Friday's difficult first round, played on a soft course in high winds and raw conditions. On Day 2, Wittenberg's score actually went down one stroke, despite much better weather, and the Tigers wound up slipping from their third-place perch after the opening round to finish with a two-day total of 743.
Freshman Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) led the way with a seventh-place individual finish. She carded rounds of 87 and 90 to finish at 177.
Freshman Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) was next with a 185, good for 14th place. Senior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) followed with a 191 (24th place), freshman Carrie Frey (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) finished with a 195 (31st place) and freshman Heather Hendrickson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers) rounded things out with a 202 (41st place).
