The Tigers made the most of their return to the course with a solid fourth-place showing at Ohio Northern.
LIMA, Ohio - For most of the players on the Wittenberg women's golf team, the 2008-09 season was delayed more than a week by a deluge that washed out the Olivet Invitational. The Tigers made the most of their return to the course with a solid fourth-place showing at Ohio Northern.
Wittenberg's A Team finished fourth in the 11-team field, while the Tigers' B Team placed sixth, showing the team's tremendous depth. All 10 Tiger players competing as members of one of the two teams broke 100 on a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) led the way with a phenomenal collegiate debut. She carded an 80 to finish second and earn all-tournament honors. Her 18-hole total of 80 and nine-hole score of 39 were both Wittenberg records.
Senior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) wasn't far behind as she picked up right where she left off a year ago with an 84. That was good for seventh place. Junior Krissy Herman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was next with a 94, freshman Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) added a 96 and and freshman Carrie Frey (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) rounded out the A Team scores with a 99.
