Wittenberg Opens Season Well At Ferris State Invitational
In a field loaded with NCAA Division I and II scholarship programs, the Tigers placed eighth out of 14 teams with a two-day total of 658, which also just happened to be a new school record.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Wittenberg Tigers opened a promising 2010-11 season with a strong finish in the Tom Kirinovic Classic, hosted by Ferris State University at Katke Golf Course. In a field loaded with NCAA Division I and II scholarship programs, the Tigers placed eighth out of 14 teams with a two-day total of 658, which also just happened to be a new school record.
Junior Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) led the way as usual for the Tigers, placing 21st with scores of 80 and 79 on the 5,851-yard course. She was followed by a pair of freshmen, as Maggie Prokop (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula) carded rounds of 78 and 84 to place 31st and Deanna Mychalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) added scores of 82 and 83 to the cause to place 40th.
Junior Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) was next with a two-day total of 172, which put her 53rd. Rounding things out was sophomore Meghann Greene (North Royalton, Ohio/Padua Franciscan), who finished with a 190 and placed 73rd.
The Tigers finished with a team score of 658, well behind first-place Ashland, which posted a 603, but well ahead of the other two NCAA Division III programs in the field, as well as four other scholarship programs.
