Women's Golf Captures First Win of the Season
Wooster, OH - After a season filled with long road trips and top-level competition, Wittenberg Women's Golf took a relatively short trip to Wooster to compete in the Eva Shorb Wieskopf Invitational, hosted by the College of Wooster. The invitational was shortened to only one round, as the round on Sunday was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Tigers finished first out of six teams, finishing at +42 (330 strokes), while Otterbein placed second at +54 (342), and Wooster rounded out the top three at 66-over-par (354).
On top of Wittenberg placing first as a team, Hillary Humbaugh (Haubstadt, IN / Gibson Southern) took first overall for the first time in her collegiate career as she shot a solid round of 79, good for seven over par. The remaining three scorers for the Tigers all finished within the top-10 to secure the first place team finish. Izzy Selby (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) finished her round tied for second with an 83, which was +11. The last two scorers for the Tigers both finished tied for fifth as Addie Yarbrough (Dublin, OH / Jerome) and Anna Sinclair (Brownsburg, In / Brownsburg) both carded rounds of 84 to finish the invitational at +12.
Taylor Rausch (Mechanicsburg, OH / Mechanicsburg) also performed well individually as she did not count towards the score for the Tigers. Rausch tied for 11th by having a round of 89 to finish 17 over par.
The Tigers will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, April 14th and 15th, as they host the Win Palmer Cup with the men's team at the Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
