Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club
PINEHURST, N.C. – Wittenberg's Women's Golf opened its spring season at the Centre College Classic that took place at the legendary Pinehurst No. 1 golf course at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22.
The Tigers finished ninth out of a 12-team field that included six teams ranked among the nation's top 50, including No. 2 Carnegie Mellon, No. 7 Washington-St. Louis, No. 19 Trinity, No. 24 Huntingdon, No. 38 Piedmont, and No. 45 Methodist. Washington-St. Louis was first overall with a total two-day score of 26 over par on the par-71 course. Wittenberg's team finished at +111.
Izzy Selby (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) finished first for the Tigers, coming in 28th overall, carding scores of 80 and 84 to finish at +22 for the two-day tournament. Anna Sinclair (Brownsburg, IN / Brownsburg) wasn't far behind her in 31st place with scores of 81 and 85 for +24. Addie Yarbrough (Dublin, OH / Jerome) came in 43rd at +32 with scores of 87 and 84 followed by Taylor Rausch (Mechanicsburg, OH / Mechanicsburg) at 49th finishing at +35 with scores of 90 and 87, Rose Yancey (Westerville, OH / North) tied for 56th overall with a +40 and scores of 90 and 91, and Josie Adamson (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) came in 58th with a +40 and scores of 87 and 95.
Next up, the Tigers will head to Savannah, Georgia, to compete in the Savannah Invitational on March 9-10. The invitational will be hosted by Berry College at the Savannah Country Club.
