Springfield, Ohio — After helping the Wittenberg women's lacrosse team to a three-game improvement in the 2008 season, defender Hannah Walsh, class of 2011 from Rochester, N.Y., has earned second-team Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-West Region honors.
Walsh, who ranked among the team leaders in ground balls and caused turnovers while committing just two of her own all season, was also named second-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) last week. She helped the Tigers to records of 6-7 overall and 1-5 in the NCAC in 2008, a year after Wittenberg finished with a second consecutive season of 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
Walsh started 10 of the 12 games in which she played in her inaugural collegiate campaign. She was a key contributor to a defensive unit that allowed 34 less goals than the previous year. Wittenberg outscored its opponents for the first time since 2003.
