Tigers Roll Past Kenyon To Remain Perfect In NCAC Play

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers continued to spread the wealth on offense, and it paid dividends in the form of a 15-13 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victory over Kenyon.

Six different players scored at least one goal, including four players who tallied three times apiece, as the Tigers improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC. Wittenberg defeated Kenyon, which fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference, for a third straight season and won its eighth straight NCAC regular season game, dating back to the end of the 2011 season.

The Tigers scored the first two goals of the game, but by halftime they trailed 8-6. The reply was quick, however, as Wittenberg scored four unanswered to take a lead it would never relinquish. Kenyon closed to within one at 14-13 on a goal with 5:14 remaining, but the Tigers put the game away with a goal by senior Erin Guiliano (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) with 29 second left.

Guiliano was one of the four players to score three goals in the game, joined by sophomore Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings), junior Alie Marousek (Ballston Lake, NY/Portsmouth (NH)) and junior Francine Murzynski (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic). Murzynski and Warye each added an assist in the game.

Rounding out the attack, senior Kellen Morrissey (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) chipped in with two assists, sophomore Beth Hubbard (West Hartford, Conn./Notre Dame de Scion (Mo.)) contributed a pair of goals, and junior Nicolette Lyons (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) added one goal.

Morrissey topped the Tigers with six ground balls, while Marousek, Murzynski and senior Katie Warner (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy) picked up four apiece. Murzynski also finished with five draw controls, while Morrissey added four. Murzynski and Warner led with two caused turnovers each.

In goal, senior Katie Bondy (Westerville, Ohio/South) was credited with 13 saves for the Tigers, who continue NCAC play on Saturday with a home game against Allegheny at 12 p.m.
