Women's Lacrosse Captures Third Straight Win
Springfield, OH – Wittenberg Women's Lacrosse earned a 12-7 home win over Elmhurst University on Friday afternoon, March 27, using a strong first quarter to build the momentum and set the pace of the game. It was the third win in a row for the Tigers.
Elmhurst had the first goal of the game. The Tigers answered, and it remained a one-goal game until the Tigers pulled away with the 4-2 lead to end the first. The Tigers carried that momentum into the second quarter where Elmhurst only had one goal. The Tigers went into half leading 7-3.
Aubrey Stager (Saline, MI / Saline) led the offensive effort with three goals, pacing a balanced Tiger attack. Jarya Hassell (Bellbrook, OH / Bellbrook) and Alyssa Burnside (Hilliard, OH / Bradley) each added two goals and two assists, contributing significantly to Wittenberg's 12-goal output. Maren Raymond (Louisville, KY / Ballard) also found the back of the net to add two goals and three assists for the Tigers.
Defensively, Wittenberg limited Elmhurst's scoring opportunities, allowing 12 shots on goal. Makenna Ricketts (Chardon, OH / Chardon) recorded three saves, while the Tiger defense forced 25 turnovers and collected 36 ground balls.
