Winning Streak Ends at Four as Lacrosse Starts Conference Play with a Loss
Springfield, OH - The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team traveled to Oberlin for their first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match-up of the 2026 season against the one-loss Yeowomen. In a game in which Oberlin led wire-to-wire, the Tigers were still able to make their mark in the fourth quarter, ultimately falling, 15-4.
The Yeowomen were able to hold the Tigers scoreless through the first three quarters of play, but Sophia Meek (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) to put the Tigers on the board two minutes into the fourth. She then assisted on the second goal of the quarter as Jarya Hassell (Bellbrook, OH / Bellbrook) found the back of the net in another two minutes. After another couple of minutes passed, Elise Jantzen (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) scored the third goal for the Tigers, their first unassisted. Meek then scored her second halfway through the final quarter of play as the Tigers held the Yeowomen to one goal the remainder of the contest.
