Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 13 Wooster, 22-2
WOOSTER, OH – Wittenberg Women's Lacrosse had a tough time against a potent offensive attack by No. 13 Wooster in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contest on the road Tuesday night, April 21, at John P. Papp Stadium.
Trailing 6-0 early in the first period, Jarya Hassell (Bellbrook, OH / Bellbrook) found the back of the cage for the Tigers to squander the shutout at the 7:10 mark. She scored off an assist by Essence Wyse (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy). Wyse then scored a goal of her own, unassisted, late in the fourth quarter with 2:46 remaining in the game.
Wyse led the team in shots with five total and one on goal. Hassell had three shots, one on goal, and Sophia Meek (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) tallied two, both on goal. Alyssa Burnside (Hilliard, OH / Bradley), Maren Raymond (Louisville, KY / Ballard), and Haley Pitman (Liberty Township, OH / Ursuline Academy) had two ground balls apiece to lead the Tigers. Pitman also led the team in draw controls with two.
Goalkeeper Makenna Ricketts (Chardon, OH / Chardon) collected nine saves in the game.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 4-12 overall and 0-6 in the NCAC, while Wooster improves to 14-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Denison leads the conference at 5-0 to lead the NCAC.

- Totals for the Tigers included two goals, one assist, 12 shots, three on goal, 11 ground balls, eight draw controls, and six caused turnovers. They were 8-of-17 in clears and had one free-position shot.
- Wooster collected 22 goals, 13 assists, 36 shots, 30 on goal, 23 ground balls, 17 draw controls, and 15 caused turnovers. The Fighting Scots were 14-of-16 in clears and had one free-position shot.
