SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Looking to bounce back from their first dual meet defeats of the year, the men's and women's swimming and diving teams put together strong performances en route to 147-94 and 149-101 victories, respectively, over Wilmington College.
Getting the day off on the right foot, the Tigers men cruised to a five-second victory in the 200-yard medley relay. Sophomore Matt Higbee (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) anchored the winning effort for the men. Higbee would later roll to a victory in the 50-yard backstroke victory.
Also taking a win in the sprints was senior Andy Bates (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) as he took the 50 freestyle. Mirroring Bates' accomplishment was women's freshman Sinjin McNicholl (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis), leading a Tiger sweep of the top three spots in the event.
Fellow freshman Cecilia Wille (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) topped the field in the 100-yard freestyle, while junior Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute) claimed the 50 butterfly for the high-flying Tigers.
The wins moved WIttenberg's men to 5-1 on the dual meet season while the women climbed to 4-1 on the year. The two squads will next be in action when they travel to Ada, Ohio, to take on the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University on Nov. 21.
