Tigers Take Down Hiram, 175-36, In First Dual Meet Of 2024-25 Season
SPRINGFIELD, OH - Hosting its first home meet of the season against North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opponent Hiram, Wittenberg Women's Swimming and Diving earned its first dual meet win by a dominant score of 175-36.
To kick off the meet, the team of Lillian Cook (Rensselaer, IN/Rensselaer Central), Sophie Paskiet (Toledo, OH/St. Ursula), Teagan O'Connor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Carroll), and Shania Stone (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) took home first place in the 200-yard medley relay. Fellow teammates Elisabeth Josellis (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw Community), Jade Paumi (Lexington, KY/Lafayette), Jenna Hallett (Delta, OH/Delta), and Krenna Rahr (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) placed second in the event.
Addy Payne (Sidney, OH/Sidney) paced the Tigers in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing first with a time of 12:22:09, while Jade Paumi earned a second-place finish.
In the 200-yard freestyle, McKenna Clark (Waynesville, OH/Carroll) won the event recording a time of 2:03.28, and Josellis finished second.
Four Tigers competed in the 50-yard freestyle, with Allison Browning (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro), Rebekah Lebold (Mount Vernon, OH/Mount Vernon), Gabriella Tisi (Adelphi, OH/Zane Trace) and Rahr earning the second through fifth place finishes, respectively.
Paskiet and Hallett notched first and third place finishes for Witt in the 200-yard IM.
In the 1-meter diving, Lebod, Kylie Paumi (Lexington, KY/Lafayette) and Macy DeHart (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge) finished first through third, Lebold finished first with a score of 182.76.
The trio of O'Connor, Jade Paumi and Hallett went one through three in the 100 yard butterfly, while Stone, Annie Gammon (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day), Browning and Rahr earned the first through fourth place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle.
Cook led the way for Witt in the 100-yard backstroke, placing first, while Clark and Payne placed first and second in the 500-yard freestyle.
Kylie Paumi was the lone competitor in the 3-meter dive and posted a score 157.90.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Paskiet finished first with a time of 1:09.68, and teammates Gammon and Tisi placed second and third.
To cap off the meet, the team of Clark, Lebold, Cook and Stone placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.98. and fellow teammates, Gammon, Payne, O'Connor and Browning placed second in the event.
Wittenberg continues its season on Saturday, November 2, as the Tigers travel to Transylvania to compete in a double dual meet with Wilmington. The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m.
