Women's Swim and Dive Kicks Off the Season with a Dominant Win
Hiram, OH -The Tiger swim and dive teams headed to Hiram to kick off their season as the women looked to pick up where they left of last season, winning all nine of their dual meets. Under new coach Gabe Rastatter, they are on track to do the same thing after they defeated the Terriers of Hiram, 171-36. The women had the first-place finisher in every event of the day.
Their first event was the 400 meter medley relay, where the team of Lilly Cook (Renssenlaer, IN / Rensselaer Central), Shania Stone (Cincinnati, OH / Princeton), Sophie Paskiet (Toledo, OH / St. Ursula) and McKenna Clark (Waynesville, OH / Carroll) finished with a time of 4:58.10, to defeat their own teammated by almost a full minute. In the 1500 meter freestyle, Annie Gammon (Cinicinnati, OH / Cincinnati Country Day)notched the team's second first place finish with a time of 21:13.32. Clark added another first place finish on the day as she finished the 200 meter freestyle in a time of 2:12.37. Lilly Cook earned her second first place finish as she ran away with the 100 meter backstroke in 1:16.02. Paskiet then added another for herself in the 100 meter breaststroke as she had a time of 1:18.09. Stone followed up her teammates with a 29.09 in the 50 meter freestyle, good for another top finish. Kylie Paumi (Lexington, KY / Lafayette) added nine points to the team total with a diving score of 133.12 in the one meter diving competition. In the 100 meter freestyle, Rebekah Lebold (Mount Vernon, OH / Mount Vernon) added another first-place finsih for the Tigers with a time of 1:09.74. Cook had another top finish on the day with a time of 2:45.68 in the 200 meter backstroke. Paskiet did the same in the 200 meter breaststroke in 2:57.72. Clark took first in the 400 meter freestyle as well with a runaway time of 5:14.31. Teagan O'Connor (Fort Wayne, IN / Carroll) added a first-place finish of her own with a time of 1:10.97 in the 100 meter butterfly. Jade Paumi (Lexington, KY / Lafayette) then took the top time in the 400 meter individual medley in 6:05.75. To close out the meet, the 400 meter freestyle relay team of Stone, Cook, Paskiet and Clark added another first place finish and 11 points with a time of 4:30.75.
Next up, the Tigers will take on Transylvania and Wilmington at a double dual meet at Wilmington on Saturday, November 1st at 1:00 PM.
