Women's Swimming and Diving Sweeps All Events in Home Opener
Springfield, OH - In their first home meet of the season, Wittenberg Women's Swimming and Diving hosted the Manchester Spartans at the Wittenberg Natatorium and ran away with the meet. With a final score of 543-98, every event in the meet was won by a Wittenberg swimmer for the second time this season.
To start the meet, the 200-yard medley relay team of Lilly Cook (Rensselaer, IN / Rensselaer Central), Sophie Paskiet (Toledo, OH / St. Ursula), Teagan O'Connor (Fort Wayne, IN / Carroll) and Shania Stone (Cincinnati, OH / Princeton) took first over their own teammates in a time of 1:57.10. McKenna Clark (Waynesville, OH / Carroll) took the second event, the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 12:07.31. Paskiet added to her relay top finish with first once again in the 200-yard freestyle with another impressive time of 2:08.12. In the 50-yard freestyle, a time of 29.45 earned Kiara Haislip (Glendale, AZ / Ironwood) the fourth top finish of the day for the Tigers.
Stone added to her first-place relay finish with another top time of 1:02.74 in the 100-yard individual medley. Next, in the one meter diving, freshman Payton Oleksinski (Ypsilanti, MI / Ann Arbor Skyline) put up a score of 181.35 for another first-place mark. O'Connor became their third participant from the relay team to achieve a second first-place finish with a 28.81 time in the 50-yard butterfly. Clark grabbed another top finish in another freestyle event as she won the 100-yard event in 57.23. Cook became the last member of the relay team to add a second first-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke in 30.29.
Rounding things out, Elisabeth Josellis (Warsaw, IN / Warsaw Community) took home a top time as she finished the 500-yard freestyle in 6:05.33. Stone grabbed her third top finish by taking home the blue ribbon in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 31.46. To close out the meet, the 200-yard freestyle team of Paskiet, Cook, Clark and Stone earned first place in 1:46.40 to total 13 first-place finishes for the Tigers on the day.
