Wittenberg Opens Second Half Of Season With Loss At Allegheny

ERIE, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers opened the second half of the 2007-08 season with a tough loss to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Allegheny, 7-2.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Gators improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC.
Junior Kat Sundstrom (Trafalgar, Ind./North Central) was at least partially responsible for both Wittenberg points. Playing the No. 4 singles position, Sundstrom took a 6-3, 6-2 decision. In doubles, Sunstrom teamed up with sophomore Marisa Pechawer (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) at No. 3 doubles to pick up a 9-7 victory.
Other than that, the Tigers competed well but came up short in straight sets in all five singles matches and by matching 8-4 scores in the first two doubles matches.
Wittenberg gets right back into action Sunday at Oberlin.
