Tigers Compete Well At Wright State Raider Shootout
Competing against primarily scholarship programs, the Tigers had four players win singles matches, in addition to a doubles team that reached the A flight back draw semifinals.
DAYTON, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's tennis team put the finishing touches on a successfull fall season at the Wright State Raider Shootout.
The field included NCAA Division I scholarship programs Wright State, Cincinnati, Dayton, IUPUI, Detroit Mercy and Oakland, NCAA Division II scholarship program Northern Kentucky, NAIA scholarship program Northwestern Ohio, and NCAA Division III non-scholarship programs Wittenberg and Oberlin.
In the A singles flight, junior Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) started with a pair of losses before picking up a win over an opponent from the University of Dayton in the back draw. In the B singles flight, senior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) nearly pulled off a similar feat, losing a third-set tiebreaker in her final back draw match.
In the D singles flight, junior Andrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) and senior Kate Pintauro (Pelham, NY/Hyde School) both advanced to the semifinals of the back draw.
In doubles, Miller and Wright paired together to reach the back draw semifinals of the A flight.
