DAYTON, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers fell to visiting Ohio Northern 9-0 in a match delayed for a week and then moved indoors to Dayton Center Courts by the ongoing wintry weather.
The loss dropped Wittenberg to 6-4 on the season. Ohio Northern, which is ranked 15th in the Central Region, improved to 8-2.
The Polar Bears set the tone for the match with a sweep of the doubles competition. The closest decision came at No. 1 as the Wittenberg tandem of freshman Chelsea Reeder (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) and senior Andrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) lost 9-8.
In singles, ONU completed the victory without dropping a set. Junior Lexi Garza (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) lost 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6.
