MEADVILLE, Pa. – Inside the cozy confines of the David V. Wise Center at Allegheny, the Wittenberg men's and women's tennis teams escaped the cold for a match against the Gators, but could not evade matching 9-0 sweeps on the road.
The men fell to 1-9 overall while the women are now 1-5.
For the men, senior Alexey Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia/School 712) made a hard charge in the second set of No. 1 singles but fell 6-2, 7-5. He and senior JiaLang Woo (Shanghai, China/Yew Chung Int. School) teamed up at No. 1 doubles and fell 8-3.
The women dropped all three doubles matches 8-1, and freshman Rayika Karachiwalla (Pune, India/International Baccalaureate (NY)) gave everything she had in a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 1 singles.
