GRANVILLE/GAMBIER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the 2015-16 season with a pair of losses at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament.
Seeded seventh in the eight-team competition, the Tigers started with a 5-0 loss to second-seeded Kenyon on Friday in a match played at Denison. After rain forced the tournament indoors and into two locations, Wittenberg wrapped up the campaign with a 5-1 loss to Wooster to end up eighth in the final league standings.
Wittenberg, which had narrowly defeated Wooster 5-4 on April 1, finished the season with an overall record of 5-17.
Wooster opened the consolation match with two wins in the doubles competition, including a narrow 9-8 tiebreaker decision at the No. 1 position. Wittenberg's lone point came at No. 2, where sophomore Rayika Karachiwalla (Pune, India/International Baccalaureate (NY)) teamed with freshman Nora Jacobson (Easton, Md./Easton) for an 8-4 win.
In singles, Wooster won at the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 positions to secure the team victory.
