School, Personal Bests Make Wooster Meet A Tiger Success

WOOSTER, Ohio — A strong indoor season continued for the Wittenberg track & field teams on Saturday with a strong outing at the Fighting Scot Invitational hosted by the College of Wooster. Among five teams, the Tiger men finished second and the women third.

On the way to those strong finishes, one school record fell and one personal best was set. Junior Paige Lloyd (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) won the pole vault and broke Wittenberg's indoor women's record with a launch of 10-6, besting the previous mark of 10-1 held by Kaitlyn Wesseler.

Logan Jackson

Sophomore Logan Jackson (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) set a personal best while winning the men's weight throw, getting a heave of 44-4.0 on his third toss.

Jackson was one of three individual winners for the Tiger men, joined by senior Justen Cox (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), freshman Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook) and sophomore Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin).

Cox captured the men's pole vault with a mark of 13-5.75, while Yates won the 400-meter dash on a time of 51.24 and for a third-straight meet Banjo won the 60-meter dash on a time of 7.06 seconds.

Back on the women's side, Lloyd was joined by three other Tiger winners. They included senior Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven), freshman Shelby Kaho (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) and sophomore Erin Duffy (Concord, Ohio/Painesville Riverside).

Dubuc took first in the mile with a time of 5:23.66 and Duffy won the weight throw on a distance of 34-8.5. Impressively, Kaho remained undefeated in her young collegiate career in the 60-meter hurdles, winning for the fourth time in as many meets on a time of 9.32, her best yet as a Tiger.

Wittenberg takes to the track at Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, Feb. 10 for the OWU Open, followed by a second visit to Otterbein for the Division III All-Ohio Invitational the following day.
