Tiger Women Finish Second at NCAC Indoor Championships
Oberlin, OH - Picked to win their third straight North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Track and Field Championship, Wittenberg Women's Track and Field collected more tremendous individual performances on the final day of the 2025 competition, but the Tigers came up a few points short of the hat trick, taking second place with 157 points. On the strong of a dominant performance in the distance events, DePauw took first with 199 points, and Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 118.
The competition opened with the multi-events a week earlier. In the pentathlon, Wittenberg put up big points with Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan) finishing second with 3039 for eight, Ziciah Gibson (Cambridge, OH / Cambridge) in fifth with 2732 for four, Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad) in seventh with 2599 for two, and Lainee Valentine (Marion, OH / River Valley) in eighth with 2590 for one.
On the first day of the championships, the women kept up the impressive finishes. Henderson took first in the long jump with a leap of 5.51 meters to gain 10 points, Valentine took sixth at 5.13 meters for another three points, and Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH / Lorain) finished seventh with 5.10 meters to add two points. Williams took first in the high jump as well to gain 10 points at 1.62 meters, and Henderson took second and another eight points with 1.59 meters. Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH / Olentangy Liberty) finished with 1.56 meters for fifth place and four points, while Eaton jumped 1.51 meters for seventh and two more points. In the weight throw, Macy DeHart (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge) added two points, taking seventh place with a throw of 12.89 meters. Emma Hawk (Marion, OH / River Valley) added another point by finishing eighth in the 5000 meters in 18:19.29. To close out Day 1, the Distance Medley Relay team of Alex Couch (Howard, OH / Mount Vernon), Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut), Aly Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester, OH / Canal Winchester), and Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) finished in 13:00.14 for fourth place and five points.
On Day 2, Wittenberg continued its impressive individual finishes. In the triple jump, Williams took third with a jump of 10.79 meters to add six points, while Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, OH / Anthony Wayne) was right behind in fourth at 10.36 meters to add five more points, and Weiss took seventh for another two points at 10.15 meters. Tiffany Hix (Prospect, OH / Elgin) came away with second place and eight ploints in the pole vault with 3.32 meters, and Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH / Spencerville) hit a mark of 3.07 to finish in fifth place and earn four points. The 4x200 meter relay team of Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central), Lindsey Magoteaux (Sidney, OH / Lehman Catholic), Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak), and Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield) added another five points by finishing fourth in a time of 1:46.34. In the 60-meter hurdles, Henderson had another top finish, taking fifth place in a time of 9.17 seconds for four points. Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance) took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58 seconds to gain 10 points, while Danne and De'Armond finished second and third with times of 1:00.56 and 1:01.40, respectively, for eight and six points. Then, Greer took fifth and four points by finishing in 1:01.59. Shakhan earned another six points by finishing third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.90, while Henderson and Magoteaux took seventh and eighth with times of 8.06 and 8.07 for two and one points. Frazier and Henderson also took third and fourth in the 200 meter dash with times of 25.92 and 26.02 for another six and five points for the Tigers. In the 3000-meter run a pair of Tigers' runners took sixth and seventh. Megan Keys (Dublin, OH / Jerome) and Hawk finished in 10:31.83 and 10:34.75 for three and two points. To finish the championships, the 4x400 meter team of Danne, Greer, De'Armond and Frazier added another eight points to the total by finishing in second place with a time of 4:02.47.
After the competition, Henderson was named NCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year and NCAC Women's Newcomer of the Year.
