Tiger Track Athletes Perform Well in Last Chance Meets
JOLIET, IL/BEREA, OH - Wittenberg's Men's and Women's Track & Field teams continued to put in the work toward qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships as student-athletes competed at two meets over the weekend. The majority of Tiger competitors were entered in the Harrison Dillard Twilight at Baldwin Wallace University on Friday, May 9, while two distance runners ventured to St. Francis University for the Fighting Chance event on that campus.
Senior Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI / Dexter) finished first in the 10,000 meters at St. Francis, running a strong time of 30:14.35, which would have been good for automatic qualification into the NAIA Championships but only ranks 34th currently in NCAA Division III. Kolka was joined at the St. Francis meet by junior Lucas Eisele (West Carrollton, OH / West Carrollton), who ran a personal-best time of 15:13.27 in the 5,000 meters to finish in 17th place.
At Baldwin Wallace, senior Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance) made yet another mark on the women's track and field program record book as she tied the school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.82. That performance move Frazier to 25th in the current NCAA Division III rankings in the event. Frazier also ran strong legs on the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay in the meet. The 4x100-meter relay, which also includes senior Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central), senior Lindsey Magoteaux (Piqua, OH / Sidney Lehman), and freshman Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan), is also in contention for NCAA Division III qualification with one week of last chance events remaining on the calendar.
Other Tigers to post career-bests at Baldwin Wallace included:
- Bre Glover (Columbus, OH / Groveport Madison) in the 200 meters (18th place in 26.52);
- Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) in the 200 meters (20th place in 26.62);
- Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH / Spencerville) in the pole vault (11th place at 3.21 meters) and the 400-meter dash (14th place in 1:01.22);
- Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport) in the 100 meters (10.69);
- Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH / Mentor) in the 5,000 meters (eighth place in 17:38.28).
