Meghan Frazier, Taylor Weiss Earn NCAA Indoor Championships Berths
SPRINGFIELD, OH - After another tremendous regular season, Wittenberg Track and Field has qualified two individuals for the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, which will take place March 14-15 at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Center in Rochester, NY.
Senior Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance) will compete in the Indoor Championships in the 400 meters for a second consecutive year. Frazier is 17th on the performance list for the event with a time of 57.18 that she ran at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship meet on Saturday, March 1, at Oberlin College. Frazier and the rest of the 20-runner field entered in the 400 meters are chasing Sara Schermerhorn of Hope, who has recorded the best time in the country of 55.31.
A year ago, Frazier finished 15th in the 400 meters with a time of 57.37. She entered the national meet seeded 12th in the event after qualifying with a time of 57.36. Her performance earned Frazier second-team All-America honors.
Senior Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio / Olentangy Liberty) will compete in the Indoor Championships in the high jump, also for a second consecutive year. Weiss is one of five athletes tied for 16th on the performance list for the event with a mark of 1.68 meters. Weiss and the rest of the 20-athlete field entered in the high jump are hoping to top the nation's best mark of 1.80 meters set by Allie Wildsmith of Coast Guard.
A year ago, Weiss finished 15th in the high jump after clearing the bar set at 1.63 meters on her second attempt. She qualified for the national meet with a mark of 1.69 meters, and she was among several athletes seeded 10th prior to the meet. Her performance earned Weiss second-team All-America honors.
Senior Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH / Lorain) just missed making her second straight trip to the national meet after posting a mark of 1.64 meters at the Polar Bear Qualifier on Saturday. She is among six athletes ranked 36th nationally in the event. Also ranked in the top-50 nationally but missing out on the NCAA Championships was freshman Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan), who had a mark of 5.59 meters in the long jump to rank 41st nationally. The cut-off for the event was 5.67 meters.
For Wittenberg's men's team, five Tigers ranked in the top-50 nationally at the conclusion of the regular season but missed out on the national competition. None were closer than senior Justin Norris (Middletown, OH / Middletown Christian), who was one four athletes with a mark of 2.04 meters in the high jump that ranked in a tie for 22nd. The cut-off for the event was 2.05 meters.
Freshman Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) ranked 37th in the 400 meters with a time of 49.08 and senior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) ranked 49th in the same event with a time of 49.36. Senior Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI / Dexter) ranked 38th in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:37.4, junior Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) ranked 42nd in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22, sophomore Max Martindale (Mason, OH / Lakota West) ranked 36th with a mark of 15.99 meters in the shot put.
