Tigers Compete Well Against Tough Ashland Invitational Field
Ashland, OH - Wittenberg Women's Track and Field headed to the Ashland Invitational and came away with some great finishes while competing against a strong field. The Tigers were pitted against teams such as Ohio University, Seton Hill, Duquesne, Slippery Rock, Walsh, Capital and more.
The first top-10 finisher of the day for the Tigers was Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut), as she came in eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.87 seconds. In the one-mile run, Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH / Mentor) finished just outside of the top 10, placing 11th by less than a second in a time of 5:23.61. In the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, Tyra Jackson (Lorain, OH / Lorain) took 10th with a time of 9.42 seconds, less than two-tenths of second away from a spot in the finals.
In addition, Wittenberg's 4x400-meter relay team of Danne, Bethany Allen (Greenup, KY / Russell), Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield), and Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak) took ninth in a time of 4:09.58. Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) reached a height of 3.18 in the pole vault, good for a 10th place finish, and Tiffany Hix (Prospect, OH / Elgin) was right behind in 11th, with 3.03 meters.
Next, the Tigers will compete in and host the Steemer Showcase on Saturday, January 31st with events starting at 11:00 am.
