Women's Track and Field Team Takes Fourth in NCAC Championships
SPRINGFIELD, OH - Wittenberg Women's Track and Field hosted Day 2 of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Championships at their home ground, The Steemer.
After performing well on Day 1, the Tigers started Saturday in third place. The Tigers put up a good battle but eventually finished fourth as a team with 94 points. John Carroll won the team title in the first year in a league member with 166 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan with 150, and defending champion DePauw with 137.
Freshman Kerrington Harper (Mason, OH / Mason) won the high jump with a mark of 1.62 meters, and she later added a third place finish in the triple jump. Sophomore Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.59 meters, and freshman Bethany Allen (Greenup, KY / Russell) tied for fifth in the event with a mark of 1.48 meters.
"I asked both teams to compete hard for each other for two days, and that is exactly what they did," said Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track and Field Head Coach Paris Hilliard. "I am exhilarated about how the teams competed."
After claiming two All-NCAC awards and scoring in three events over the two days, Harper was named the NCAC Field Events Athlete of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year as well for the indoor season.
