Springfield, OH - Wittenberg Men's Soccer put on a commanding performance at Edwards-Maurer Field on Wednesday, Oct. 1st, storming past Muskingum in a 7-1 victory. From the opening whistle, the Tigers controlled the pace of play, overwhelming the Fighting Muskies on both ends of the field to put the finishing touches on their non-conference schedule without a loss.
The first seven minutes set the tone with a Wittenberg goal from Ever Zepeda (Los Angeles, CA / New Designs Charter) off an assist by Collin LaVeck (Carroll, OH / Lakota West). The Tigers piled up opportunities, keeping Muskingum pinned to their own half while converting multiple chances to build a lead before the halftime break. Muskingum managed to strike for a goal at the 12:33 mark, but the Tigers wasted little time responding. Just two minutes later, Asher Donahue (Muncie, IN / Burris Laboratory School) found the back of the net to swing the momentum back in Wittenberg's favor and put his team up 2-1. Donahue's goal was the first of two for him on the night, as he continued to be a driving force in the Tigers' outstanding offensive performance so far in 2025. The first half was not finished, however, as Wittenberg scored another goal by LaVeck in between Donahue's two goals at 25:00 minutes.
The margin continued to grow in the second half, as Wittenberg's attack continued to fire on all cylinders. Crisp passing, relentless pressure, and clinical finishing allowed Wittenberg to gain three more goals, including a pair scored by Cameron Corey (Lancaster, OH / Amanda-Clearcreek). The other goal was provided by Casey Meltzer (Cleveland, OH / St. Ignatius) with an assist by Kevin Wightman (Beavercreek, OH / Beavercreek).
With the win, Wittenberg, ranked eighth in the region, improved to 7-0-3 on the season.
