A solid 2007-08 winter sports season wrapped up for the Wittenberg University Tigers over the last two weeks as the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) awarded 17 Wittenberg student-athletes and coaches with postseason honors.

Katie Gregorevich Earns First-Team To Highlight Tiger All-NCAC Selections

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg senior post Katie Gregorevich (Northfield, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) has been named first-team to highlight Wittenberg's selections to the 2008 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's basketball squad, announced today after voting by the conference's head coaches.

Sarah Jurewicz Named Permanent Women's Basketball Head Coach

Sarah Jurewicz, class of 1998, led an injury-riddled Wittenberg women's basketball team to a share of second place in the NCAC regular season and runner-up honors in the NCAC Tournament in 2007-08. Jurewicz can now make plans for even bigger and better things as the team's permanent head coach after a year in an interim capacity.

The Wittenberg women's basketball team ended the 2007-08 season with all the intensity they poured into the rest of the season. It may be a cliche, but the third time was indeed the charm for the Wittenberg women's basketball team Friday night against Ohio Wesleyan in the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament semifinals. After two losses in the regular season the Tigers at last defused the Battling Bishops by a score of 61-45 to advance to the tournament finals Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Kenyon Athletic Center.

After struggling through the first half, the Wittenberg Tigers put together a big second half to run away from visiting Oberlin in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament quarterfinal action, 79-49. The win advanced the Tigers to the NCAC Tournament semifinals for the 19th consecutive year.

A 68-52 win over Oberlin capped off the regularly-scheduled portion of the season to move to 13-10 overall and 12-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).

The team was sponsoring the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Think Pink Night", defending their home turf, and out for a bit of revenge against the visiting Bishops, who dispatched the Tigers on Jan. 26 in Delaware, Ohio.

Sophomore guard Carrie Dyer (Copley, OH/Copley) helped Wittenberg to a 2-1 week with 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a 73-60 loss to Kenyon and then dropped in a career-best 22 points, five rebounds and two steals in a 76-75 win over Allegheny. Dyer closed out her week with 18 points, eight boards and five assists in an 86-63 win over Hiram.
