Tigers Storm Back for 71-59 Win Behind Huge Second Half
CHATHAM, PA - Wittenberg Women's Basketball battled back by erasing an early double-digit deficit against Allegheny to secure a 71-59 victory in a game played at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Allegheny opened the game on fire, starting with an 8-0 run and building a 23-10 lead after the first quarter. Wittenberg responded immediately, flipping the momentum with a 12-0 run to start the second quarter, quickly climbing back into the game and tightening the score to 31-30 at halftime.
A major spark came from Catherine Buddenberg (Elsmere, KY / Dixie Heights), who came off the bench and completely changed the pace and energy of the game. Wittenberg kept their foot on the gas by erupting for 26 points in the fourth quarter. The Tigers held the Gators to just 28 points in the second half. Alongside Buddenberg's huge night, Madi Barnett (Cincinnati, OH / Kings) nearly finished with a double-double, 13 points and 9 rebounds, Cadence Boyd (Cincinnati, OH / Monroe) added 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Karley Moore (Tipp City, OH / Bethel) chipped in 8 points.
