Tigers Get Back to Winning Ways Against Oberlin
OBERLIN, OH – Wittenberg Women's Basketball got its offense back on the right track in a 61-52 victory over host Oberlin in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contest on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Phillips Gymnasium.
Karsen Karlblom (Crystal Lake, IL / Prairie Ridge) scored 14 of her team-high 21 points in the first half to give the Tigers a 38-21 lead at the intermission. The Tigers would never look back en route to the win, which broke a five-game losing streak.
With the win, Wittenberg improves to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in the NCAC. Oberlin falls to 5-11 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.
Wittenberg took the lead midway through the first quarter and was in command the rest of the way, forcing the Yeowomen into 17 turnovers. The Tigers also had control of the boards, pulling down 15 defensive rebounds in the first half. While Oberlin outscored the Tigers in the second half, 31-23, it wasn't enough the overcome the first half deficit.
Two players scored in double digits for Wittenberg, with Karlblom leading the way with 21, followed by Karley Moore (Tipp City, OH / Bethel), who added 11. Moore also led the team in rebounds with six, to go along with two steals. Karlblom added three assists and four steals. Cadence Boyd (Cincinnati, OH / Monroe) and Hope Orders (Grove City, OH / Bishop Ready) each pulled down five rebounds and grabbed two steals. Madi Barnett (Cincinnati, OH / Kings) added four assists and two steals.

The Tigers were 24-for-50 for 48 percent from the field and 3-for-11 (27.3 percent) from three-point range.
