Women’s Basketball Falls to DePauw on the Road, 73-43
GREENCASTLE, IN – Never really able to mount an offensive attack, Wittenberg Women's Basketball struggled against host DePauw in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) battle on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Neal Fieldhouse.
After trading buckets in the first few minutes, DePauw jumped ahead 8-5 at the 4:19 mark of the first quarter and never looked back, stretching its lead to 21-7 after one and 39-19 at the intermission behind smart shooting and sticky defense. There were a total of two ties and six lead changes, all in the first few minutes of the game.
DePauw forced Wittenberg into 20 turnovers and scored 26 points off the turnovers, while the host Tigers also turned in a strong performance on the boards, pulling down 42 total rebounds to just 24 for Wittenberg and scoring 21 second-chance points.
It was the second time Wittenberg lost to DePauw this season, with the first meeting ending up 51-32 in a game played in Springfield. With the loss, Wittenberg drops to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in the NCAC. DePauw improves to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference.
Two players scored most of Wittenberg's points with Molly Mossing (Cedarville, OH / Cedarville) pouring in 20 on the night and Catherine Buddenberg (Elsmere, KY / Dixie Heights) adding 14 off the bench. Mossing also had three rebounds, a steal and a block. Buddenberg also registered two assists, a steal, and a block.
Madi Barnett (Cincinnati, OH / Kings) contributed three rebounds, two assists, and a steal on the night, while Myah Johnson (Jeffersonville, IN / Jeffersonville) led the team in rebounds with four.

- Wittenberg totals for the game included going 16-for-47 from the field for 34 percent, 4-of-17 from three-point range for 23.5 percent, and 7-of-9 for 77.8 percent from the free-throw line. The visiting Tigers had 24 rebounds, 11 assists, eight steals, and five blocks.
- DePauw totals for the game included going 29-of-65 from the field for 44.6 percent, 10-of-24 from three-point range for 41.7 percent, and 5-of-11 from the free-throw line for 45.5 percent. The host Tigers also had 42 rebounds, 20 assists, 10 steals and a block.

Wittenberg will host Oberlin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Pam Evans Smith Arena, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex. It will be Alumni Day and Senior Recognition Day for the Tigers.
