Flick scores career-high 7 goals as Women's Lacrosse falls 15-12 at Oberlin

OBERLIN — Senior Jessica Flick (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) scored a career-high seven goals as the Wittenberg women's lacrosse team fell 15-12 in a tight battle at Oberlin in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

Stat Leaders
- Flick added one assist to her career-high seven goals, giving her eight points. She also had a team-high five draw controls. Her previous high goal total was six, which she achieved three times this season and twice as a sophomore. She now has 13 hat tricks this season.
- Sophomore Anna Roller (New Albany, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) recorded her second straight hat trick, scoring four goals. She now has eight hat tricks this season.
- Sophomore Sophia Meek (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) scored the Tigers' remaining goal.
- Sophomore Maren Raymond (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) tallied two assists.
- Senior Zoe Chirumbolo McKee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and freshman freshman Ebony Wyse (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) led Wittenberg in caused turnovers with three each.
- Junior Gabrielle Weckerly (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) played 45 minutes in goal for the Tigers and tallied 13 saves. Junior Sidney Sheridan (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) played the remaining 15 minutes and recorded six saves.
- Emily Shimabukuro led the Oberlin offense with six goals.
The Game
- Wittenberg led 3-1 with 12:43 left in the first quarter, getting two goals from Roller and one from Flick in that stretch. But Oberlin closed the period with a 3-0 run to take a 4-3 lead into the second.
- Roller and Flick scored back-to-back goals to open the second quarter to put Wittenberg up 5-4 with 12:53 left. The teams scored three goals each over the final 10:42 of the period, sending Wittenberg into halftime up 8-7. Flick scored twice in that span to go with one goal from Meek.
- Oberlin opened up a 14-10 going into the fourth quarter after outscoring Wittenberg 7-2 in the third. Roller and Flick scored the Tigers' third-quarter goals.
- Flick opened the scoring in the fourth period with a goal on a free position shot to cut the deficit to three, 14-11, but Oberlin answered with a goal with 12:32 remaining. Flick scored another goal off of a free position shot with 5:32 left, but the Tigers were unable to get any closer.
- Oberlin out-shot Wittenberg by a 40-30 margin and finished with a 27-21 edge in ground balls. The Tigers won 16 of the 31 draw controls.

- Third-year head coach Becca Joseph, who played at Wittenberg from 2014-2017 and holds program records for career points (328) and assists (138) and ranks second all-time in goals (190), is now 13-35 at the helm of the Tigers.
- Flick has 178 career points on 151 goals and 27 assists. She is tied for fifth all-time at Wittenberg in goals and ranks eighth all-time in points. She has a team-high 78 points, 65 goals and 13 assists on the season. She has 29 career hat tricks.
- Roller has 45 goals and nine assists for 54 points this season. She has 70 career points on 60 goals and 10 assists and has 10 career hat tricks.
- Sheridan has 325 career saves, which ranks sixth all-time at Wittenberg. Weckerly has 223 career saves.
- McKee ranks sixth all-time at Wittenberg with 68 caused turnovers in her career.
