Six Wittenberg Men's Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-District Honors
SPRINGFIELD, OH - Wittenberg had six male student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Men’s At-Large Academic All-District team for the 2025-26 season, the CSC announced on Tuesday.
Named to the team were seniors Eli Halverson (Hamilton, OH / Badin) and Ty Harris (Cincinnati, OH / Sycamore) while the remaining honorees were all sophomores, including Zach Newton (Morgantown, IN / Franklin Community), Carson Hill (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East), Mikey Schutte (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) and Mitch Bolte (Newark, OH / Newark). Halverson, Newton and Hill represent the men’s volleyball team, while Schutte and Bolte represent men’s golf and Ty Harris is the men’s lacrosse representative.
The CSC All-District Team recognized student-athletes that succeed both in the classroom and in their sport. To qualify for the All-District team, the student-athletes must hold at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA while playing in at least 80 percent of their team’s games or starting in 66 percent of games over the course of the season. After voting, the All-America team will be announced two weeks after national voting ends, on July 7 and 8.
Halverson, an outside hitter on the Tiger men's volleyball team, majored in sport management and graduated with a 3.81 GPA. This season, Halverson and the Tigers won their first Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Tournament and reached the NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Final Four, in which he was named to the NCAA Division III All-Tournament Team. By the end of the season, Halverson led the Tigers in kills, digs, and service aces while also surpassing 1,000 career kills and 100 career service aces.
Newton, an opposite hitter on the volleyball team, has a 3.84 GPA as an accounting major. In his sophomore season, he earned a spot on the Honorable Mention All-MCVL and secured the MCVL Championship with a block on match point. Newton finished the season third on the team in kills and second in blocks en route while helping the Tigers to an NCAA Division III Final Four appearance.
Hill, a setter on the volleyball team with a 3.73 GPA as a management major, is the final men’s volleyball player on the CSC NCAA Division III Men’s At-Large Academic All-District team. Hill was second on the team in assists this season and already has more than 1,000 assists in his career.
Harris, a midfielder on the Tiger men's lacrosse team, was a history major who graduated with a 3.77 GPA. He led the Tigers in goals this season with 26 and was tied for second on the team in assists with six to lead the team in points with 32. While leading the team in goals, Harris also was second among players that did not participate in faceoffs in ground balls with 34.
Schutte, an accounting major on the Tiger men's golf team, has a 3.53 GPA. He earned first-team All-NCAC this season and 2026 PING All-Great Lakes Region honors on his way to claiming a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament. At the national championships, he finished tied for 88th as an individual. Schutte added his name to the record books during the season, including lowest one-round score (64), tied for fifth in lowest score in two consecutive rounds (72, 64), and tied for fourth in a three-round score (207).
Bolte is also a member of the men's golf team who is majoring in exercise science with a 3.78 GPA. He was named second-team All-NCAC after earning a range of awards a year ago, including a spot on a freshman All-America team. In the 2026 NCAC Championships, the Tigers took second place as a team. Along with Schutte, Bolte added his name to the record books as well, moving into the top 25 in one-round score (67), tied for eighth in lowest score in two consecutive rounds (76, 70) and third in lowest three-round score (206).
